The “Educate a Child” Sponsorship Programme was the first initiative of CSA to create a sense of responsibility among the student community at CHRIST (Deemed to be University). It was started in the year 1999 by supporting 50 children. With the contributions made by them, today CSA is able to cater to the educational needs of about more than 800+ children annually.

Our Project Areas

Janakiram

A centre for helping students learn basic computer skills like Microsoft Office. It enables students to learn and enrich their knowledge about the functioning of computers. Until the basic needs of the people are fulfilled they cannot be expected to take ownership of their living situation. The 3D (Desirable, Dynamic, Development) Project aims to fulfil this need.

The 3D Empowerment model acts as a tool for achieving holistic development of children, women and others in the urban slum community.

Ambedkar Nagar & L R Nagar

In these Vriddhi project areas, there are supplementary education centres for the students of classes 1-10 to study a different subject every day. Students can revise concepts, complete their homework, get their doubts cleared, and learn important life skills. It aims to ensure a holistic education for the students and increase their pave for learning. The project area is also equipped with computer centres, libraries and day care centres.

Tilaknagar

This project area is one of the earliest Activity Centre initiatives of CSA BGR. The volunteers visit the centre every day after university hours to teach the kids and to help them in understanding their subjects. The project area children are from various schools in the neighborhood and this is why this project area is a tad different from the others. The tuition centre started a few years back and we can already see a change in the way kids learn their subjects!

Subhash Nagar

Subhash Nagar project area is one of the urban project areas where Activity Centre volunteers visit once a week to help develop important skills amongst young minds. The children of this Kannada school engage in subjects like English, Math, and Science and the volunteers help them understand concepts better. Since the volunteers are students themselves, it makes the learning effective. From time to time, events such as Talents’ Day and Sports’ Day are conducted to bring out their talents.

After - School Development Activities

Moreover, children are enrolled in the Activity Centre to improve academic/non-academic performance through informal academic sessions, extracurricular activities, personality development camps, picnic cum study exposure, and sports events. The sponsorship continues up to 16 years of age to ensure the completion of education until 10th grade.

The Future Through CSP

CSA creates an opportunity for selected sponsored children to pursue their higher studies at Christ Junior College with fee concession considering their socio-economic background. Some of the students who have graduated from CSP are in well to do positions. While some of them are working for various software companies, others are employed as accountants, dance choreographers etc. Educate A Child Sponsorship Programme has helped them to live a life of dignity and gave them aspiration for a better life.

“Child Sponsoring Programme” is the Flagship Donation Programme of CSA

Through this programme, the students sponsor the education of the underprivileged children from urban slums of Bengaluru. The initiative that took off in 1999 with a small number of 50 children from the urban slum community now provides educational support to as many as 800 children annually.
