The “Educate a Child” Sponsorship Programme was the first initiative of CSA to create a sense of responsibility among the student community at CHRIST (Deemed to be University). It was started in the year 1999 by supporting 50 children. With the contributions made by them, today CSA is able to cater to the educational needs of about more than 800+ children annually.

Under this programme, one can sponsor the children for the educational and developmental needs with an annual donation/contribution of 4000 Indian Rupees (65 USD) for a year.
The Projects are spread across three different slum areas in Bengaluru, namely 3D Project at Janakiram near Kammanahalli, Vriddhi Project at L.R Nagar, and Ambedkar Nagar in Koramangala.

Until the basic needs of the people are fulfilled they cannot be expected to take ownership of their living situation. The 3D (Desirable, Dynamic, Development) Project aims to fulfil this need.
The 3D Empowerment model acts as a tool for achieving holistic development of children, women and others in the urban slum community.

The main aim of this programme is to create sustainable improvement in the quality of life and the well-being of marginalized children in the slum. Along with enabling children to grow in a community that ensures quality education, training in life skills, opportunities for future employment and income are also ensured.
Through this support, the sponsored children are provided with required educational materials like notebooks, stationery, bags, shoes, a partial amount of school fees and an annual gift.
Moreover, children are enrolled in the Activity Centre to improve academic/non-academic performance through informal academic sessions, extracurricular activities, personality development camps, picnic cum study exposure, and sports events. The sponsorship continues up to 16 years of age to ensure the completion of education until 10th grade.

CSA also organizes bi-annual health camps (with treatment), talents day, sports and cultural activities, picnics, exposure programmes and film screenings for the children in order to provide them with an opportunity to explore their potential. CSA volunteers are also involved in assisting the sponsored children in their academic learning on a daily basis from 4.30 pm to 6.30 pm at the Activity Centre.
The Future Through CSP
CSA creates an opportunity for selected sponsored children to pursue their higher studies at Christ Junior College with fee concession considering their socio-economic background. Some of the students who have graduated from CSP are in well to do positions. While some of them are working for various software companies, others are employed as accountants, dance choreographers etc. Educate A Child Sponsorship Programme has helped them to live a life of dignity and gave them aspiration for a better life.

They also avail other co-scholastic and life-skills. Besides the student community of Christ University, the Educate a Child Sponsorship Programme also mobilizes contributions from individual donors and corporate sectors.
