Certified Management Accountant, USA (CMA)- Overview

The CMA programme offered to students of the Department of Commerce at CHRIST (Deemed to be University) is an outcome of an MOU signed on July 2, 2015 with the School of Business and Management Accountants (IMA) USA, Wiley India and Miles Professional education.

The School of Business and Management Accountants (IMA), USA, is a worldwide association of accountants and financial professionals which offers the Certified Management Accountant (CMA) certification programme. 

The CMA designation is a highly respected credential for finance and accounting professionals and it provides an objective measure of an individual’s knowledge and competence in the fields of management accounting and financial management. CMAs have extensive career opportunities with MNCs worldwide.

Wiley India, the Indian subsidiary of John Wiley & Sons, Inc. (a leading global publisher) supports CHRIST (Deemed to be University) as a partner in providing resources and books whose contents are in the form of print – Wiley CMA Excel Learning System. This is IMA’s official test preparation study material for the CMA examinations.

Miles Professional Education is the official training partner of IMA and Wiley India, and provides CMA training with official IMA study materials and class room teaching.

CMA Programme Details

The course is conducted by highly qualified trainers from Miles Professional Education. Classes are conducted twice a week after college hours in CHRIST (Deemed to be University). CMA candidates need to fulfil the following criteria to obtain the CMA certification:

Note: The education requirement may be completed prior to or within 7 years of passing the examination. This implies that students who are pursuing their Bachelor’s degree are eligible to take up the CMA exams.

Exam Structure

Students are required to write two papers in any order. Each paper is of 500 marks, which is a combination of multiple choice and essay type questions. Students require a minimum of 75% in each paper to clear the exams, ie., 375 out of 500. CMA exams can be taken up in Prometric centres across major Indian cities. The CMA exams may be taken in any of the three testing windows each year – (i) January & February (ii) May & June (iii) September & October.

Students will be given a certificate upon successful completion of the course.
